A Pakistani creative Ad… Free Girl
Operation Desensitise Pakistan
POSTED BY SHYEMA at Down.com
How many of you watched the footage of criminal suspects in Chiniot being tortured by the police? Many, I hope, because if you didn’t, that’s a whole lot of air time going to waste.
Click Here to watch the footage.
I caught the footage on a local news television channel late Monday night. I watched it again on Tuesday morning when I woke up, and then again the same night before I slept. On Wednesday, I didn’t watch television.
In the race to break news and be the first to broadcast a report, news networks are going overboard. This is an understatement when one is talking about a media industry that deems it acceptable to repeatedly show footage of naked men being whipped by police officials, as captured on a cell phone camera. With each broadcast, viewers got a sense of just how proud the news channel was of its great find – so proud that they played the clip over and over again.
I understand that for the government to take notice of grave offenses, they have to be brandished across the media. For playing that role, I salute the media. But once the concerned authorities have taken notice and are moved to action, the public display of madness should stop. Why did we need to see the police brutality clip for hours after Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah ordered an inquiry into the matter and declared the guilty policemen would be suspended?
After the politicians took notice, the media could have continued its critique of police brutality by shaming the policemen – and for that, broadcasting their pictures all over the country would have been enough. Instead of repeating the same footage over and over again, channels could have zoomed in and out of mugshot photographs of the policemen responsible for carrying out the torture. But perhaps that wouldn’t have been sensational enough.
The two police constables who had kidnapped, raped, and killed a three-year-old girl last year in Karachi had their pictures pasted all over the newspapers while television channels showed them handcuffed in police custody. That is how something brutal should be covered. Rather than flaunt pictures of the little girl’s body, the media just had to put the faces of the policemen on our screens and papers – it was enough to appall us.
The media has a responsibility to broadcast the truth and break the news on time. However, the media forgets that it also has a responsibility to respect victims and their need for privacy.
Starting off with the biggest example of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake to Peshawar’s recent Meena Bazaar blast, the fascination with live coverage has caused us to look at limbs and dead bodies without flinching. This is not your latest Quentin Tarantino movie. These are actual people who have families watching television. No one deserves to find out about the death of their child or parent through live coverage of a blast. No one needs to look at blown away limbs to understand a disaster has taken place. And most of all, no one needs to look at the way barbaric officials create their own parallel justice system.
Child Labor in Pakistan
We recalled so many definitions of child labour…..
We collected data and records ,prepared by UNICEF and other authentic agencies about child labour…… .But when We came across these pictures , We felt my every effort is useless….. ..We thought we don,t need to give any detail about it…..because these pictures speak themselves.. …….
Let,s see what they say….
Each year we arrange different seminars, different events and made tall claims of giving some revolution to the existing setup of this society, but all in vain, still they are helpless and the rope of their destiny is in the hand of those immoral people who don’t have any ethical values.

Should man merry for a second woman without consent of their first woman?

Samina Khawar Hayat
Outspoken opposition legislator Samina Khawar Hayat, on Thursday, shook the House with a startling declaration when she called on the Punjab government to amend the existing laws to allow men to marry for a second, third and fourth time without the consent of their first wife.
The PML-Q lawmaker went as far as saying that she had no problem if her husband, Khawar Hayat, were to marry again without her permission.
She was taking part in debate on an adjournment motion, moved by Sheikh Allauddin of the PML-Q dissidents, regarding the recruitment of unmarried women – over the prescribed age of 30 – in government departments. He asked the government to allot a special 18 percent job quota in the public sector for such women.
Both opposition and treasury lawmakers supported the motion and succeeded in convincing the chair to put up the issue for further debate on Monday. Speaking on the House floor, Allauddin argued that more than 17 percent of women in Punjab remained unmarried due to financial constraints or other social reasons, such as a lack of dowry, and that their number was increasing day by day. He also maintained that many affluent individuals spent millions of rupees on ‘mistresses’ and illicit affairs, but were too embarrassed to enter into wedlock with them.
Speaking on the issue, Samina Khawar Hayat said, “If there is no bar on them marrying again, all of men’s frustrations would be reduced, while the women would be able to salvage their honour and lead secure lives”.
Most treasury members in the House endorsed Hayat’s demand and appreciated her bold stance on the issue. Sheikh Allaudin and Maulana Ilyas Chinnioti and Amina Buttar termed her suggestion “ideal”.
During his speech on the House floor, Chinnioti said that Hayat had voiced the wishes of Muslim women. He also suggested the government amend the existing Muslim Family laws, which made it mandatory for husbands to obtain the first wife’s permission before contracting a second, third or fourth marriage.

Has Jinnah’s Pakistan become an intolerant nation?
An interesting take on what we were meant to be and what we have become. Originally posted on New-Pakistan.com
The calamitous reality of the situation can no longer be denied; nor can we hide behind political correctness whilst the ideals and principles Pakistan was founded upon go up in ruins. Pakistan has indeed become a dangerous place for minorities. The Quaid’s nation – which was supposed to be a free and safe haven for all to live in peace – has had blood spilt for decades.
In the past twenty years, over 4,000 people have been killed due to sectarian violence. We are reminded of this on every occasion dear to minorities.
Take the recent attacks on Shiites – after the grim attacks on Ashura, we are now reeling from attacks this past Friday that killed even more, tore the lives apart of hardworking Pakistanis.
Take the frightful national attitude towards Ahmadis. There are laws in place that would deny an Ahmadi a Pakistani passport. There are televangelists, like Aamir Liaqat and scores like him, who declare the murder of an Ahmadi to be perfectly Islamic. Is anyone therefore truly shocked when there are Ahmadis killed after this holy decree?
Take the recent case of a 12-year old Christian girl Shazia Masih. This child, already a victim of the shackles of generational poverty, was beaten, tortured and finally murdered by her employer, a wealthy Muslim lawyer. The police initially did not want to investigate the charges filed by Shazia’s family! Look what we have become…a nation where we do not even respect the basic human rights of our people!
As Huma Yusuf points out in her Dawn article , we can look to the opinion-makers and trendsetters to see where this is coming from and where it gains momentum.
Indeed, intolerance is very much a characteristic of Pakistani society, a fact obvious to anyone who follows the media. Take, for instance, the highly sensationalised, racist jibe at Senator Babar Ghauri by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan. Khan resorted to racism as a response to Ghauri’s accusation that he had an illegitimate child. But the ease with which he opted for the race card — and the resounding applause that met his comment — indicates that intolerance is thriving here.
Khan’s one-off insult cannot, however, compare with the consistent intolerance preached by other prominent personalities. Pakistani bloggers have made much of self-proclaimed strategic analyst Zaid Hamid’s Wake Up Pakistan campaign, which is explicitly anti-India. Although the campaign calls for an “ideological revolution” that restores the Muslim identity of the Pakistani state, Hamid’s dream of Radio Pakistan broadcasting from New Delhi has come to symbolise the no-compromises attitude of this particular movement.
What can be said of a nation where these men have a respected platform and their calls for racism, sectatianism, military takeovers are met with wild applause?
The fact is, Imran Khan and Zaid Hamid are not isolated individuals. They are demonstrative e of the national of “us versus them” mentality. Them, of course, refers to the Ahmadis, Shiites, Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, et al.
This is a reality that should break the heart of every true Pakistani.
We do not respect personal choices. We do not allow for individuality. We do not accept minorities (be they women or people with different religions) as having human rights. We do not believe in common decency.
In order to stop our county from spiraling downwards, we have to create and maintain a grassroots movement for tolerance while our political leaders call for fair treatment and brotherhood. Only with a concerted effort can Pakistan live up the Quaid’s vision.
Why Pakistani Journalists can’t see Black Water ?
(now got it why media dont take “black water” as serious Issue)
CIA Public Relations at work? Do you expect this “Pakistani media” would tell you the truth and serves the interests of Islam and Pakistan? If you still believe that then may Allah help you and show you the righteous path before its too late for all of us.
